Yesterday was a very exciting day.
On Tuesday afternoon we picked up a new addition to the barn family. Dieuwke a 3 year old Friesian mare. She is so beautiful, tall, dark, and moves like a dream. Stay tuned, this afternoon, I will post pictures of her first day on farm, and her introduction to the other Friesian girls.
The new girl
The beauty of fall…
If there is one thing that I know for sure, it is that this is the prettiest time of the year.
We are so lucky to be able to look out the window and enjoy such a feast of color.
I hope the rain stays away, so the leaves don’t fall off to quickly.
Peaceful mornings
Some times in the quiet of the morning you can find such peace.
Chevy, Georgie, and Simon, enjoying their breakfast as the sun rises.
The temperature is a high of 3 degrees Celsius but looking out at this serenity gives me such a warm feeling inside. Ahhhhh horses.
Riding
Babies are weaned and the mares are all free to play around. Today was the first time we put a saddle on Wietska Wv. Her previous owner said she was broke to ride, but it had been a few years. We weren’t to sure what would happen, but when we mounted the saddle our wonderful Wietska acted like it was just another day.
There was no need to be apprehensive with this mare. We were so pleased her first day (pardon the pun) back in the saddle. GOTTA LOVE THESE FRIESIANS!
Next one up WIetska van de Anne Heove
Till next time
Weaning Time
Tomorrow is the day, Marko and Molly get to show their independence. Wietska and Wietska will get a much deserved break, such good moms. And yes that’s correct Wietska and Wietska, I never thought, that one day, I would purchase, 2 Friesian horses, the same summer, the same age, with the same unique Dutch name. Who knew? I love them both.

Paris keuring
Soooo it rained the Tues of the Keuring. But all was not lost. The sun came out Wed, our reserve day, and what a day it was.
